Papers consist of legal documents and related correspondence, inventories of property (including a handwritten list of slaves owned by Sarah C. Barnwell), a slave bill of sale, and ephemera and miscellaneous items pertaining to the Aiken and Barnwell families. Ephemera include visiting cards and a wedding invitation (1880) for the marriage ceremony of Sallie (Sarah) C. Barnwell and D. Wyatt Aiken at St. Andrew's (Episcopal) Church in Darien, Georgia. Miscellaneous items include a guest list (1854) for an excursion and picnic, a poem (n.d.) about the Barnwell family, a handwritten eulogy (1860) for Capt. Edward Barnwell, and artworks such as a paper cutout and silhouettes.
